How I Edit a Video Using Sony Vegas Studio
This past weekend many of the instructors for the Search Engine Academy meet in Las Vegas for our “Minds In Motion” workshop to preview the new training material for our SEO training seminars and to do some brainstorming on some new classes. Michael Marshall also spent some time reviewing some of the updates to his SEO Tools such as SEOrecon, SEO Scout and SEO Sniper.
But the part that I enjoyed the most was meet and hanging out with the other SEO instructors such as Sue Cooper who came all the way from Australia and Nancy Wigal who has just started teaching her Internet Marketing classes in Washington DC.
One of my strengths in IM has always been video so when that discussion finally came around I pulled out my trusty video recorder and gave an example on how I do shoot and edit my videos.
So tonight as I was editing this video I thought it would be kind of fun to make a video of how I edit a video.
Lets Get Buzzed!
Last night the “Nostradamus of Google”, Chris Lang, was our featured speaker at our SEO and Internet Marketing Meetup.
Chris’s presentation was about Google Buzz which is Google’s newest social media program.
Google Buzz is now a part of Gmail and it allows people to follow that they e-mail or chat with on a regular basis.
Google Buzz users can choose to make their updates private, only available to certain people, or public in which case Google’s search engine can find and display in the SERP’s (search engine results pages).
So why did Google launch Buzz? As Chris explains in the following videos it is a new social media service that will filter out meaningless information and provide a service unlike Twitter where everyone is talking, but no one is listening.
In the following weeks Chris will be releasing a PDF that will also list some of his “secret tips” that he uses to build up his tribe of followers on Google Buzz along with his linking strategies. If you’re interested in receiving Chris’s PDF once it is released, please sign up for our free SEO tip of the day and the link for the PDF will be provided once it is available.
Life Changing Events!
My daughter Erin, was by my side during the heyday of Radarbusters; answering the hundreds of telephone calls, emails, packing the orders and pitching in with copywriting and image editing.
She was also by my side when we received the phone call from Netshops offering to buy our empire of websites and social media properties for over seven figures.
After this life changing phone call with both Erin and I celebrating that we were millionaires, she broke the news to me “Dad, I have a boyfriend (Thomas) in Flagstaff and we are in love, we are getting
married. We just didn’t know how to break the news that I wouldn’t be here with you with Radarbusters forever”.
Well time has finally come, next month my little girl Erin and Thomas are getting married in Las Vegas!
Focus on What You Want!
At last week’s SEO class Joe Sugarman was my featured guest and speaker. At the beginning of Joe’s presentation he spoke about focusing on things you want to change in your life. Joe began his presentation with three questions:
1- If you want to improve your health, what do you focus on?
2 – If you want to improve your business, what do you focus on?
3 – If you want to focus on making money, what do you focus on?
Our students initially replied:
A – Focus on a healthy lifestyle
B – Focus on improving your business
C- And focus on making money
Joe responded that everyone got A and B right, but everyone was wrong with C, focusing on making money.
He related that if we only focus on making money we are in effect trading hours for dollars. To become financially successful you must focus on helping others become successful too.
Joe’s message resonated with me looking back at my success and the other business owners that I’ve worked with over the years.
Erin’s and my success with Radarbusters was to first provide unmatched service to our customers; they then told their friends who in turn told their friends. Thus I created my own tribe of clients.
We have replicated this same philosophy in helping others become successful with our Meetups and SEO and Internet Marketing Workshops, here are a couple of examples;
Carol Sprauge: I first met Carol at an event where she asked to have her website reviewed. Carol was 63 years old and full of excitement saying that she had learned Front Page and PhotoShop and that this was her first website selling tire pressure monitors.
Well to say her website sucked would be an understatement. However she took our recommendation to heart and the site was redesigned. One year later she became a millionaire.
Jesse Musick: Last June Jesse sat in one of our “Hot Seats” as he called it. He had just launched his new website promoting tools for Internet Marketing. I spent the first 20 seconds looking at Jesse’s site and asked, “What the heck do you sell here, I don’t have a clue?”
We then gave Jesse suggestions on how to improve his site, focusing on the benefits of his programs, not the features.
Jesse called me last week saying that he had made all of these changes and is ready to launch his new site. I looked it over this weekend and I’m positive that Jesse will be very successful in his new venture.
Are You Ready for Your Next Life Changing Event?
If so then you don’t want to miss next month’s Meetup or our March SEO Workshop.
We moved back our normal Meetup date one week so I can be by my daughter’s side as I walk her down the aisle, giving her away at her wedding.
But the following week, February 25th, I’ll be at your side when as we put members of our Meetup in the “hot seat” where we will be doing site reviews.
I’m positive that there will be many of you that will want to sign up for this event as soon as you read this postl, however the meeting room at Bill Johnson’s can only accommodate fifty attendees . So to avoid problems such as from our last Meetup where 50 members sign up and 15 did not attend, you will be charged $5.00 through Paypal when you RSVP.
This small $5.00 investment is thus your commitment to the other members of our group that you’re ready to take action and learn about Internet Marketing from our group.
Let Us Help You Get Focused!
To be truly successful as an Internet Marketer you will need to become focused and stop treating your interest in Internet Marketing as a hobby or as a passing interest. You need to treat this as a real opportunity to change the lifestyle of your business, family and your life.
As you’re reading this I’m sure that you may be asking yourself right now, “ok, Roy how do I accomplish this?”
Well the secret is to become focused and to learn about SEO and Internet Marketing from the ground up so you will have the knowledge and skills to be successful in the highly competitive online business world.
The next question you’re probably asking yourself is “Ok, I don’t have the time or I don’t think I have the basic skills to learn all this stuff.”
Remember Carol, the 64 year old lady that is now a millionaire selling tire pressure monitors? She said the same thing to me after our review of her website.
But she stepped up to the plate, learned everything she could at our SEO Workshop and became successful and quit her full time job in only three months after her launch.
Are you ready to step up to the plate and to stop working for a paycheck but for a lifestyle?
If so we have six openings left for our March basic and advanced SEO workshop.
Our last two SEO Classes were sold out, so don’t miss this opportunity, sign up now!
Sugarman Speaks at SEO Training SW Class
There’s only one thing more fun for me than teaching my week long intensive SEO Training class. That one thing is being a student in my own class. While I love to teach, I also love to learn things from my students. Last Thursday, was in particular a tremendous thrill for me.
Marketing legend Joe Sugarman came to town specifically to address our class. As many of you know, I minored in advertising in college. Joe Sugarman was an icon I began following in the 1970’s.
In a fascinating 1-2 hour presentation, Joe took all of us on a ride through much of his life and career in marketing. He didn’t do it with fancy graphics or a powerpoint presentation. He captivated us by using one of the keys to internet marketing gold — Joe Sugarman told powerful stories.
Joe taught us how he learned the power of marketing across all levels of his schooling. He marched us through some fun marketing stories in the U.S. Army. Then told us how snow helped launch his career in advertising. Next, Joe opened our eyes to behind the scenes information on his domination with BluBlocker Sunglasses (and gave everyone a pair of the cool, new line coming out soon).
In what felt like a surreal moment for me personally, Joe Sugarman then explained the innovative products and websites that my new company, SEO Content Kings is working on with him. It’s a trip into the future for all of you.
My business partner Thomas Baldrick videotaped the entire presentation. I got to sit there and listen and learn from the marketing master along with the rest of my students.
Best wishes in your internet marketing success.

Google Local Search Workshop
Google Local Business listings is a great opportunity to get your business on the map that matters most, Google’s Local Map.
As forty-five percent of all searches done online have local intent, Google is reporting that they now return a map result in their SERPs in one out of every 13 searches.
Today I hosted our first Google Local Training for 2010 and two prior students came to the class to brush up on their skills while also discussing the successes they have had in Google Local.
Listen to Jovan relates in this video testimonial on how this training increased his business thirty percent in only three months and how during the one day class he obtained a top ranked position!
If you’re interested in putting YOUR BUSINESS ON THE MAP, contact Radar Roy now to sign up for his next bi monthly SEO training workshop!
Clear Your Calendar, Sugarman and West come to Phoenix!
I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve waiting for Santa! Only I’m a grown man who can’t wait for January! Just wait until I tell you why.
You have role models. So do I. Starting off as an internet marketer in the late 1990’s I had two role models. They were Joe Sugarman and Jerry West.
You may know Joe Sugarman as the guy who sold millions of those BluBlocker sunglasses on TV. But, there’s so much more to the man whom I proudly call a “marketing genius.” The New York Times branded him the “Mail Order Maverick.” He was named “Direct Marketing Man of the Year” honors in 1991 and received the Maxwell Sackheim Award. Joe Sugarman is also the guy who introduced the concept of using toll free numbers in direct marketing sales. He is a brilliant marketing mind and one of the top copywriters of all time.
“There are a lot of great copywriters, but Joe Sugarman is the best. He knows how to build a story and close the sale.” Richard Thalheimer, Founder, The Sharper Image
“Joe Sugarman has a real talent for promotion and writing advertisements.” Al Gore, former Vice President of the United States
I first began following Joe Sugarman back in the 1970’s when I was a college student majoring in TV-Film Production and Advertising. Today, my company, SEO Content Kings, works directly with Joe in marketing a number of his products, both online and offline.
Jerry West is my internet marketing mentor. He is one of the most successful affiliate marketers, and one of the most sought after speakers and consultants in the industry.
I first met Jerry back in 2001 while he was an instructor for the Search Engine Academy. In just the first three minutes with Jerry, he provided me with one of the most powerful Internet Marketing strategies I use still today, the power of using a business journal to document your plan, path and ideas.
“When something new comes out about SEO, Jerry West already knows about it. Jerry already has tons of analysis compiled on the subject. It’s like the man never sleeps.” – Andy Jenkins, Founder of StomperNet
“When I have a question about SEO, I call Jerry.” – Leslie Rohode, Developer of Optilink and OptiSpider
So, what do these two legends have to do with you? I’m glad you asked. You see, next month you will have the one of a kind opportunity to meet, learn from, and learn with these two marketing legends during my five day comprehensive SEO Workshop.
Clear your calendar. The dates are January 18-22, 2010 in Phoenix, Arizona.
Joe Sugarman will be attending the full five day workshop as a student. He’ll be joined by his protégé, Caleb Jennings, one of the bright young minds in internet marketing.
Caleb is featured in the new book by New York Times Bestselling Authors, David Borgenicht and Mark Joyner, “The Worst Case Scenario: Business Survival Guide.” They want to learn everything they can in growing Joe’s new company, Stem Cell Products, LLC. In this new line of work, the Sugarman “Golden Touch” is being used to develop and market new products and technologies that crack the “anti-aging code.”
Jerry West will be attending the advanced segment of the workshop on Thursday and Friday where we will be sharing our secrets and strategies that have led to great success in online and offline marketing.
If one of your goals for the New Year is to break through in Internet Marketing, or to improve your online business, then this is the training opportunity you need to attend!
But don’t wait! Space is limited for this workshop to only FIVE more students. You need to register now to reserve your spot!
The cost for this five day Comprehensive Internet Marketing workshop is only $1995.00

Site Reviews
This week we have a total of ten students in our advanced AZ SEO training workshop and prior to the end of each day’s class we have two site reviews of our student’s websites.
During our site reviews we discuss search engine optimization tips, copywriting, website analytics and how to create a USP for your online business.
The following videos are a site review of a site that sells lawn furniture along with our suggestions to improve the website’s exposure in the SERPs and improve conversions.
Roy Reyer and Jerry West; Amazing Internet Coaching Phoenix on November 15, 2009.
Online PR News – 20-October-2009 – MORRISTOWN, AZ – Roy Reyer, the internet guru who sold his network to his biggest competitor for over seven figures and Jerry West, one of the most successful affiliate marketing advertisers on the Internet have announced a brand new SEO training conference to be held in Phoenix.
The Phoenix AZ SEO Rainmaker’s Conference will be held on November 15, 2009 at the Crowne Plaza in Phoenix Arizona. SEO gurus Roy and West will share their personal success strategies and internet marketing methods to help participants successfully bolster their business during the recession.
“The Rainmaker conference is well-known for it’s intimate atmosphere where participants can easily discuss internet marketing issues that are affecting their business. Our goal is to show as many people as possible the actual internet marketing strategies that we used to create our success,”
“During this economic recession we realize business owners need access to methods and strategies that will help them grow their business without having to spend thousands of dollars. Through the SEO Rainmaker’s Conference we will help them create the rain that their businesses need to grow and flourish,” says Roy Reyer of Amazing Internet Coaching.
Roy Reyer is well recognized in the SEO industry as the developer of the immensely successful ‘RadarBusters’ network that was eventually sold to his competitors for a 7-figure price. Jerry West is equally well known in his niche for being one of the best known affiliate marketing advertisers and is also the author of the SEO Revolution. The pair met at a Search Engine Academy Workshop in Las Vegas and joined forces to teach others exactly grow successful businesses.
Because the recession has been tough on many businesses, Roy and West are offering participants a chance to learn these proven marketing strategies for the cut-rate price of $249. Previous participants of other Rainmaker workshops will know that this is a steal as previous events have cost as much as $3,000 to attend and even Roy Reyer’s SEO class costs at least $2,000 to attend.
Unlike other workshops, the Rainmaker search engine training conference is lively and interactive. Roy and West discuss practical SEO topics that participants can immediately apply to their businesses. The conference will help participants work less but achieve more control over their business while identifying new opportunities to dominate Google rankings. The Phoenix event is scheduled immediately following the PubCon in Las Vegas, so that Roy and West can disseminate this cutting-edge knowledge to participants.
“The Rainmaker AZ SEO training class is well-known for it’s intimate atmosphere where participants can easily discuss internet marketing issues that are affecting their business. Our goal is to show as many people as possible the actual internet marketing strategies that we used to create our success,” concludes Reyer.

Blogging, Pest Control, & FTC
The following Post was written by one of our SEO Training SW students in regard to his take on the recent FTC rules and regulations in regard to blogging
Interesting read today from Fox news on the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). This is something that would effect SEO companies as they are prone to adding links and building blogs to get more traffic. The FTC has voted to regulate blogging and fine those that are posting product reviews for money. They believe that these reviews are misleading in that the consumer is unaware if the review is a organic unsolicited review or if the review is paid for by the product company. Further, many of these sites and reviews sign on as affiliates and receive a commission if the product is bought through their site.
The law will require that bloggers must make it known that they are being paid in a “clear and conspicuous” manner and the law goes into force December 1st, 2009. The law does not require notification for “free” products, meaning if I where to offer you free pest control service in exchange for a review then you are not required to disclose that you are receiving free service. While these regulations may make many bloggers nervous, the FTC says that they intend to target the companies and advertisers. This actually makes me more nervous as a pest control company.
Let’s say that I am paying an SEO company to build my site and back links. How can I be sure that the SEO company I hire is adhering to this law? Who then is responsible, the SEO company or the pest control company? Further, this law seems very inadequate. How do you define a “review” of a company or a review of a product? How will the FTC distinguish between legitimate customers reviewing a product or service versus the paid reviews? And what about blogs that benefit indirectly from their reviews (i.e. Google adsense)?
Or better yet define “clear and conspicuous”. How do I know if this site “clearly and conspicuously” show that I am a Bulwark employee. Is the facebook profile on the left sufficient or do I need to disclose this in every post? Beyond that this blog isn’t purely a Bulwark blog, its my own blog and thoughts as well. Bulwark does not sanction everything written on this blog and I am not really getting paid directly for my content.
Overall, however, I applaud the FTC’s attempt to regulate this gross flood of solicited reviews. It is unfortunate that so many companies and individuals are cashing in on the naive public. Having worked on the internet for sometime I myself spot the propaganda reviews and comments regularly. In fact, there are entire blogs that look like just a single user reviewing everyday products, but in fact are a paid blogger.
As far as I am aware Bulwark has not overstepped these requirements. But, again, I am unaware of every attempt hired SEO firms have undergone to boost my web presence. Further, I don’t know how they define “clear and conspicuous”. Hopefully a site that is owned by Bulwark is clear. But, it does sound like I will need to check in on my SEO team, and I would advise all internet advertisers and business owners to do the same. Don’t get caught with your pants down.
From your Pest Control SEO guy.
This post was not directly paid for by Bulwark Exterminating, however the writter is biased as to which pest control service is the best.
